AN UNNECESSARY CRIME

The tragedy in Connecticut is a wake up call to all parents to love and adore your children and tell them you love them everyday. Help your children with their self esteem, and give them the confidence and encouragement to reach their goals. Tell your children to talk to YOU with any issues they might have, and no matter how bad it may be, you won’t love them any less. Tell them you’ll be there for them to help them through it. We are their teachers to give them the tools to help them grow into good human beings. Children with mental illnesss need special attention and can not be ignored. Give them the life they deserve so they’ll feel safe in the world and not alone and angry. As parents we need to invest time into our children. We don’t know why this horrifying event happened and may never will. My love and prayers go out to all the families who lost their beautiful innocent children, and those who lost a parent, wife, husband and friend.

DO IT NOW!

At my women's networking meeting social media expert Randi Sherman spoke about how important it is to relay a certain message to people when posting on Facebook. So here goes: I want to reiterate what I wrote in my blog the other day. I'm not telling overweight women to give up hope I'm just saying don't expect to meet a man who's physically fit, tall dark, handsome...and successful. Your chances of meeting someone are much higher if you're open to meeting someone who is in a similar weight and nutritional situation as yourself. I'm all about self improvement. I'm one of the vainest women I know, but that doesn't make me a bad person. I like looking good for my man, but first and foremost for myself. I want to love what I see when I look in the mirror. I want to feel young and sexy, because when you feel it you exude it and it's exciting and exhilarating to not only you but those you want to attract. Do it NOW!! Don't wait for your husband of 25 years to walk through the door and say "I don't want to be married anymore". Ladies you better be ready for that! My dear friend Gene Bua would say "Anything Can Happen" ...aint that the truth! Don't you think Holly Petraeus could have saved herself from the humiliation of her husband's affair with not one but two women, if she had done a complete makeover. Look at a photo of the Petraeus' back when they met. She was a pretty woman who let herself go, became the best mother and wife she can be...supported him throughout his career. There was just one problem ...she neglected herself, so of course shes going to stay with him... this woman's self esteem is already destroyed. David Petraeus is no Don Juan but he's powerful, looks his age and is physically fit. Ladies there are so many opportunities presented to us that we can benefit from if we just do it! It could be life changing. In my upcoming blog I will share with you some of my tips on how to self improve physically and emotionally so you'll be ready to meet HIM!

Goodbye Vanilla Latte

In the last two days at least six women approached me asking "Can you find me the man of my dreams?' I would have said yes but there was one problem...they were all at least 25 pounds overweight and looked 20 yrs older than their age. How the hell am I supposed to find a guy for them if they don't take pride in the way they look. Men are visual creatures. Are they shallow...hell yea they're shal low but that's just the way it is. So ladies, get off your behinds, stop feeling sorry for yourself and get to the gym or hire a personal trainer and start eating healthy. You attract what you put out there. If you want a man who's physically fit, smart and successful than you have to earn it. I just started working out today with my former trainer Sam Bell who taught me eight years ago how to eat right. He changed my life and now eight years later is changing it again. He told me to give up my addiction of my morning fix at Starbucks...a grande vanilla latte and switch to green tea. He promised me that in six weeks time with a healthy diet and excercise and lots of hydration I will lose the excess whatever you call it between my belly button and my pubic bone. You know the extra stuff that all of us women want to get rid of after having babies. Just think if you follow Sam's instructions you won't have to go get a tummy tuck! So ladies, start now and you will love yourself for it...and I can guarantee HE will too!

A MITZVAH CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

In the past week I’ve done 5 Mitvah’s. For those of you who don’t know what a Mitzvah is, it’s a good deed. Here are my Mitzvahs. 1. Did the 5K for Brain Cancer with my friend Rhonda Finkel and her team Think Positive. 2. Made another successful match with two people who were about to give up hope. Yippee!! 3. Gave clothes to someone who needs them 4. Made grocery sacks out of felt on Mitzvah Day at Kol Tikvah 5. Sent a donation to my favorite charity Now I’m not patting myself on the back, but it’s a damn good feeling. If you do one or two Mitzvahs a week something good will come to you. Remember a Mitzvah can be something so small as paying a compliment to someone who might not feel good about themselves. It could be life changing. I know this woman who would walk around with a chip on her shoulder. At first I thought she was a snob, or just an unfriendly person. I found out through a source that she had a horrible childhood and is very guarded, shy and insecure. The next time I saw her she was wearing this cool sweater so I reached out by saying "I love your sweater, it's so flattering on you...where did you get it"? She stopped dead in her tracks and didn't know what to say. At first she thought I was talking to the person she was with. She said "Thanks" and said she bought it at H&M. I told her she should buy one in every color and then I got into my car. The next time I ran into her she approached me first and said Hello and told me she went back to H&M and bought two more sweaters in different colors. She then asked me for my card because someone told her I was a matchmaker. She's currently in a healthy relationship with someone I introduced her to a year ago. Funny what a Mitzvah can do!

SEXUAL CHEMISTRY What makes two people crave each other?

You can meet someone for the first time and know in five minutes if you’re attracted to that person. You either want to jump their bones or can’t wait to go home to feed your cat…even if you don’t have one. There’s nothing better than feeling that tingling sensation on a first date without any physical contact. But what happens if the other person doesn’t feel the same way. It sucks!! In a perfect world both parties feel it and BINGO it’s like magic. But what makes two people crave each other? Some women like men who are oozing testosterone while others would rather be the dominatrix. I think if you took a poll most women would rather have the man initiate…like Mr. Big in Sex In The City…remember the elevator scene…it doesn’t get much hotter than that! Men get turned on by feminine women who smell good, and take care of themselves and are somewhat mysterious and don’t talk too much. There’s nothing worse than a woman who has diarrhea of the mouth. It’s a huge turnoff. You want to leave them wanting more. Women love men who smell good, make them laugh, have a job, open the car door, and aren’t cheap. Men deep down want a woman who has self respect, and someone they can take home to meet their mother. If Mom’s happy everyone’s happy!

Stop the Jiggle In Your Wiggle I've been back from Europe for over two weeks and I finally took my J Lo butt to the gym today. Between the pasta, gelato and red wine i consumed in Italy, I gained a whopping 7 pounds! I came to this realization when i kept unbuttoning my jeans which were suffocating me beyond belief!! Today I did 2 miles on the treadmill, 25 min on the elliptical and 25 min of steps not to mention the 250 situps . I ate a sashimi salad for dinner and drank 5 bottles of water and feel like a million bucks!! I realized that it's not just about looking good but what's most important is to feel good. Of course looking good is important too especially when you're as vain as I am...but this doesn't make me a bad person...hey I'm the only woman in Calabasas who hasn't had a shot of botox. I'd rather own a Picasso. painting than look like one! Then again Picasso is one of the most brilliant artists of our time. I need to seriously think about this.

AGE IS JUST A NUMBER I now know the secret to older men who look younger, more boyish and can still do it! Saw Neil Diamond last night at the Greek Theater and at 71 yrs young is still as sexier than ever...must be his new 42 yr old wife who keeps him young. My advice to all of the ladies out there...age is just a number...think young, act young, live young, play young and your man will feel young. Who said we have to act our age? We all want to feel young again no matter what age we are! Afterall 50 is the new 35 right ladies? So don't feel sorry for yourselves by raiding the refrigerator, and sitting on your asses doing nothing. Get to the gym, buy a sexy new dress, add highlights to give yourself a softer, younger look, show alittle cleavage, wear a pump to enhance your legs, and lighten up on the nagging. Good things will happen and you'll feel better about yourself...I guarantee it!!

Brrrr!

This weather change is like a breath of fresh air. I'll tell you what cold is...which brings me back to my days in New York. Getting ready for work in the morning wearing a warm wool sweater, wool ribbed tights, boots, fur lined gloves, a fashionable hat which made a statement and the full length mink coat my beautiful Mother passed down to me. Waiting for a taxi cab on 57th and 5th with the wind ...hitting me in the face, my nose running uncontrollably, my toes starting to feel numb and not being able to hail a cab because I can't feel my fingers so I give up and hop on the next bus that comes along and save ten bucks. The good news is right there as I get off the bus is my favorite pretzel stand. Grab a pretzel with a dab of mustard and eat it on the way back to my apartment. I walk in the door, turn up the heat and take a nice warm bubble bath. I heat up the Chinese food from the day before, turn on the TV to see whats happening in the world and anxiously await a new episode of Knots Landing. Go to bed with Johnny Carson and seven hours later wake up to a snow storm..can't get to work. I spend the day at home catching up on my favorite soaps, drink hot chocolate and whipped cream ( I know I'll work it off at the gym) and snuggle on the couch with my cats Mushi and Tushy. I'm getting antsy so I walk to the newstand when I suddenly get splashed with cold wet slush by a car turning the corner. I rush back to my warm cozy apartment, throw off my clothes, put on my flannels, crawl into bed hoping that I'll open my eyes to a beautiful sunny sky.
So now here i am twenty years later living in the most beautiful state In the USA and in the last 24 hours we've experience a cold spell and it's not so bad. In fact it's refreshing and rejuvenating! My advice to all of you native Californians who are hemming and hawing about the cold is lighten up, enjoy it while you can, nturn up the heat, throw on a scarf and some leggings, take your dog out for a fun, drink hot chocolate with your kids, feel the cold against your face and breathe. It's great for the soul!

Valentine's Day Advice

I'm Alone On Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is here and you're freaking out because you have no one to spend it with? It's not the end of the world if you don't have a date for Valentine's Day do something nice for yourself. Go to the market and buy yourself chocolate covered strawberries or treat yourself to a massage. This is your day to be good to yourself. Strike up a conversation with the person who strikes your fancy at your favorite coffee shop. Tell them that you like their smile. There's nothing like making someone feel good about themself. You might spend the following weekend with this person.

What's An Exciting Thing to Do On Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day is very overrated. Restaurants charge triple, and the pressure to please your partner could either kill you or make you broke. Not everyone can afford to by the Tiffany bracelet. Be spontaneous, and unpredictable by doing something your partner least expects. If you have kids have them build a fort in your family room (You know it was made with love) order a pizza, open a bottle of wine and watch a romantic movie with your honey. Yes, alot of women love flowers and candy but we're all running to the gym to stay in shape...are we really going to eat the candy?
Roses are nice but very predictable. Be creative and mysterious which can be very sexy. If you keep the spice in the relationship you'll never be bored.
Happy Valentine's Day!

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY COME AND GONE By Lisa Conrad Cohen

It’s been exactly thirteen days and nine hours since I turned another year older and as I sit and reflect on the events of my life I have to say it’s been quite a journey. I have only a few regrets, some of which are not sleeping with a handful of men who might have been really great in bed! Another regret is not traveling to Europe when I had the chance to go in my twenties. I went to Rome and Florence in my forties pregnant with my second child and walked up the Spanish Steps every night. I missed out on the wonderful Italian wines but made up for it by eating three gelatos a day. And the only other regret I have is not grabbing opportunities as they were presented to me. The things I could have achieved were endless. Grab those opportunities as they come to you. So now here I am doing things I never expected to be doing. I have a wonderful man, two amazing daughters, six handsome and very smart stepsons, a lovely home, two adorable dogs, an amazing group of friends, I can still fit into my size 6 jeans, no hot flashes yet, enjoy sex more than ever, appeared on a TV show, wrote articles that have been published, have a growing business, have done numerous radio shows, haven’t done botox…yet, having a ball every Friday at AFL with the most talented actors, writing my book... OY VEY…I’m exhausted and it’s GREAT!!! I love my life and I wouldn’t change a thing. So on that note believe in yourself, keep a positive attitude, love yourself, follow your dreams, if you try and fail, at least you know you tried. It will make you stronger and wiser. Wisdom goes a long way. Here’s to Life!!
