WHAT IS A TRUE FRIEND?

Good friends are hard to come by. If you can count the amount of true friends you have on one hand, boy are you lucky. A true friend is someone who loves you unconditionally, that when you screw up they'll give you another chance. A true friend is someone you can call at 3:00 in the morning if you are in a crisis. And most of all a true friend is someone you can trust, tell anything to, and you never have to worry about them telling someone else. Thank you to my 5 true friends who have been so supportive, were there for me during not only the ups but the downs too, and love me unconditionally no matter how neurotic I get!
Give something back to your true friends to show them how grateful you are to have them in your life!

HOW DO I HOLD HIS...ATTENTION?

Everyman loves a strong, confident, sexy woman right?  Then ladies it's time to get your sexy back, turn it on, love yourself, and don't be anything but yourself. Even if you're not one hundred percent thrilled with your appearance go out and do something to change it. Get that new hair style, push up bra, sexy lingerie, work it mama! So many woman are waiting for Prince Charming to come knocking at their door to be rescued like Richard Gere did with Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, which happens to be one of my favorite movies. Even though she came off a bit unsophisticated, and uneducated she was still strong in what she believed in and you bet your ass
she was sexy and confident in her own way.  Many men are attracted to what they can't have, which makes it more exciting and intriguing to them. If a women comes off needy, desperate and too available he will get turned off.  So to the ladies who want to keep the romance alive, and keep your man interested here are some tips for you:

*When he comes home from a long stressful day whip out the hot oil and give him a sensual massage
with a happy ending.

* Don't be so anxious...let him initiate and be the man!

*Cook him a meal that will knock his socks off.

*Buy tickets to his favorite sporting event

*Wear something provocative when he walks in the door.

*Do something out of the ordinary that will open his eyes...something spontaneous which will hold his interest.

If you want to keep the relationship alive, exciting, sexy and romantic you gotta do the work...it will definitely pay off.  Then go buy that Louis purse you've had your eye on because you deserve it!

HOW CAN I KEEP HIM INTERESTED?

As a Matchmaker/Relationship Expert I've dealt with all kinds of people. There are the ones who are admittedly superficial who are only attracted to people with outer beauty and there are the ones who have a certain look or type that they're drawn to. Is this a bad thing? It is if you're still single and in the same boat as you were in five years ago. Maybe you need to try something new. Maybe you should look deeper into the soul and heart of the person. You will be surprised at what you might find.
Why are people so hung up on looks? Is it because their parents were critical of them, or maybe they're so critical of themselves and insecure that they need to have a trophy to validate themselves.
We all want to be attracted to our partner but isn't it true that after years of being together the looks fade but the person on the inside is who we fell in love with?  Or maybe not. Maybe we fell in love for the wrong reasons. Why do men cheat on their wives after being married for ten, fifteeen or twenty years. Is it because she let herself go and doesn't care about how she looks? Is it because he brings home the bread and butter and expects the sexy siren to open the door when he comes home? Does he want his cake and eat it too? Is he someone who needs attention twenty-four seven? All of these are true depending on the particular man.
Maybe if she went to the gym, got her sexy back on and was a slut in the bedroom he wouldn't have that affair.  There's no right answer but there is a solution to the problem. In my upcoming blog you'll hear the tips on how to keep him interested, romantic and available.

DO's and DON'Ts of DATING

Here are some of my Do's and Don'ts of Dating

DO go on a first date with a positive attitude. Remember a first date is about seeing if you want to go on a second date You're interviewing this person to see if he will be your long-term partner.

DO watch how a man treats his mother. If he treats her with respect and love he will most likely be a good partner.

DO understand that a classy decent woman will always offer to pay her share, but she would really prefer to be treated on the first date.

DON’T sound needy or anxious on your first date. It's a real turnoff.
.
DON'T expect to sleep together on the first date. We all love a challenge and something to look forward to.

DON'T become a texting addict... it's not sexy. Just ask her out and make it happen!

If you use these dating tips I guarantee you will be on your way to successful dating. Many people ask me why they're single. I try to help them make smart choices when it comes to choosing the person that's best suited for them. It's like a puzzle and the pieces have to fit. One of my gifts to many of my clients is teaching them how to communicate without sounding needy or anxious. Many women who have been in a long term relationship and are starting over do this again and again. It's self sabotage and a real turn off. Men seek women who are confident, not overly available, and a bit mysterious. It's the challenge that's exciting that makes you want to wake up in the morning. I'm not saying once they conquer it's over. Keep it exciting, a bit unpredictable, and fun. I hear over and over again "I'm bored with my partner" or "I need more excitement". We all want to live an exciting life with the person we love. We want the sex to be great, go on vacations, have enough money to buy that purse you've had your eye on, get a massage now and again, be the best parents we can be to our kids. We can have all that but we have to put the work into it. It doesn't just come out of the sky.
I'm here to help each and every one of you bring the excitement back into your current relationship or into your brand new one. We all want to have a reason to wake up in the morning so let's begin now!

Feel Goods Before Valentine's Day

-->
Valentines Day is coming and we all want to feel good about ourselves, especially when we're about to go out on that date.
One of the things you can do before your date is to write down anything that made you feel good that
week. Here are two of my feel goods.

My friend told me she and her four year old daughter were at the book store looking at the magazines when her daughter suddenly grabbed a magazine with Cindy Crawford on the cover and said with excitement “IT’S ELLA’s MOM." When she told me the story I asked her if her daughter had been to the doctor lately to have her eyes checked.  I honestly have to say it made my day even if it did come from a four year old.  I think I'll wait awhile longer to call the plastic surgeon.

It was 8:00pm and I was sitting at Starbucks answering emails when suddenly I noticed a bottle of wine on the table. Starbucks is really selling wine to their customers?  When the waiter approached me I said “A glass of Chardonay please” He responded  “Can I see your ID." Is he serious? I looked at him and said ”You must be on drugs." I thought to myself should I pass on the glass of wine, not give him my drivers license and have him think I'm younger than I am.  I did want that glass of wine so I hesitantly handed him my drivers license and he said “WOW you look great."  I enjoyed that glass of wine even though he was young enough to be my son.

Try and focus on your positive attributes and make them work for you. Remember no one wants to be with Debbie downer! We need to love ourselves before we can accept and give love to someone else.

You Can Make It Happen

This is the start of the New Year and a new beginning for many of us. Here are some tips to prepare you to meet that special someone.
Wake up and throw ice cold water on your face… it will invigorate you.
Wear something you love yourself in even if it’s a warm up suit and your going to the market. Make sure your teeth are brushed and flossed just in case you meet that IT person in the produce dept at Whole Foods or Starbucks...great places to meet someone.
One of the most important pieces of advice to everyone is to smile even if you’re not in the best mood. No one wants to talk to you if you have a scowl on your face. People want to be around positive, happy people, unless of course you’re a miserable person who wants to meet someone more miserable than yourself to make yourself seem happier but that doesn’t usually work…could turn into a train wreck.  Give someone a compliment…it’s such a good feeling to make someone feel good about themselves and it will come back to you in spades.
If you see someone smiling at you don’t just leave. Smile back and say “Do I know You From Somewhere”.  It works like MAGIC!! Have your business card with you at all times.
Good luck!

More tips to come.

AN UNNECESSARY CRIME

The tragedy in Connecticut is a wake up call to all parents to love and adore your children and tell them you love them everyday. Help your children with their self esteem, and give them the confidence and encouragement to reach their goals. Tell your children to talk to YOU with any issues they might have, and no matter how bad it may be, you won’t love them any less. Tell them you’ll be there for them to help them through it. We are their teachers to give them the tools to help them grow into good human beings. Children with mental illnesss need special attention and can not be ignored. Give them the life they deserve so they’ll feel safe in the world and not alone and angry. As parents we need to invest time into our children. We don’t know why this horrifying event happened and may never will. My love and prayers go out to all the families who lost their beautiful innocent children, and those who lost a parent, wife, husband and friend.

DO IT NOW!

At my women's networking meeting social media expert Randi Sherman spoke about how important it is to relay a certain message to people when posting on Facebook. So here goes: I want to reiterate what I wrote in my blog the other day. I'm not telling overweight women to give up hope I'm just saying don't expect to meet a man who's physically fit, tall dark, handsome...and successful. Your chances of meeting someone are much higher if you're open to meeting someone who is in a similar weight and nutritional situation as yourself. I'm all about self improvement. I'm one of the vainest women I know, but that doesn't make me a bad person. I like looking good for my man, but first and foremost for myself. I want to love what I see when I look in the mirror. I want to feel young and sexy, because when you feel it you exude it and it's exciting and exhilarating to not only you but those you want to attract. Do it NOW!! Don't wait for your husband of 25 years to walk through the door and say "I don't want to be married anymore". Ladies you better be ready for that! My dear friend Gene Bua would say "Anything Can Happen" ...aint that the truth! Don't you think Holly Petraeus could have saved herself from the humiliation of her husband's affair with not one but two women, if she had done a complete makeover. Look at a photo of the Petraeus' back when they met. She was a pretty woman who let herself go, became the best mother and wife she can be...supported him throughout his career. There was just one problem ...she neglected herself, so of course shes going to stay with him... this woman's self esteem is already destroyed. David Petraeus is no Don Juan but he's powerful, looks his age and is physically fit. Ladies there are so many opportunities presented to us that we can benefit from if we just do it! It could be life changing. In my upcoming blog I will share with you some of my tips on how to self improve physically and emotionally so you'll be ready to meet HIM!

Goodbye Vanilla Latte

In the last two days at least six women approached me asking "Can you find me the man of my dreams?' I would have said yes but there was one problem...they were all at least 25 pounds overweight and looked 20 yrs older than their age. How the hell am I supposed to find a guy for them if they don't take pride in the way they look. Men are visual creatures. Are they shallow...hell yea they're shal low but that's just the way it is. So ladies, get off your behinds, stop feeling sorry for yourself and get to the gym or hire a personal trainer and start eating healthy. You attract what you put out there. If you want a man who's physically fit, smart and successful than you have to earn it. I just started working out today with my former trainer Sam Bell who taught me eight years ago how to eat right. He changed my life and now eight years later is changing it again. He told me to give up my addiction of my morning fix at Starbucks...a grande vanilla latte and switch to green tea. He promised me that in six weeks time with a healthy diet and excercise and lots of hydration I will lose the excess whatever you call it between my belly button and my pubic bone. You know the extra stuff that all of us women want to get rid of after having babies. Just think if you follow Sam's instructions you won't have to go get a tummy tuck! So ladies, start now and you will love yourself for it...and I can guarantee HE will too!

A MITZVAH CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

In the past week I’ve done 5 Mitvah’s. For those of you who don’t know what a Mitzvah is, it’s a good deed. Here are my Mitzvahs. 1. Did the 5K for Brain Cancer with my friend Rhonda Finkel and her team Think Positive. 2. Made another successful match with two people who were about to give up hope. Yippee!! 3. Gave clothes to someone who needs them 4. Made grocery sacks out of felt on Mitzvah Day at Kol Tikvah 5. Sent a donation to my favorite charity Now I’m not patting myself on the back, but it’s a damn good feeling. If you do one or two Mitzvahs a week something good will come to you. Remember a Mitzvah can be something so small as paying a compliment to someone who might not feel good about themselves. It could be life changing. I know this woman who would walk around with a chip on her shoulder. At first I thought she was a snob, or just an unfriendly person. I found out through a source that she had a horrible childhood and is very guarded, shy and insecure. The next time I saw her she was wearing this cool sweater so I reached out by saying "I love your sweater, it's so flattering on you...where did you get it"? She stopped dead in her tracks and didn't know what to say. At first she thought I was talking to the person she was with. She said "Thanks" and said she bought it at H&M. I told her she should buy one in every color and then I got into my car. The next time I ran into her she approached me first and said Hello and told me she went back to H&M and bought two more sweaters in different colors. She then asked me for my card because someone told her I was a matchmaker. She's currently in a healthy relationship with someone I introduced her to a year ago. Funny what a Mitzvah can do!

SEXUAL CHEMISTRY What makes two people crave each other?

You can meet someone for the first time and know in five minutes if you’re attracted to that person. You either want to jump their bones or can’t wait to go home to feed your cat…even if you don’t have one. There’s nothing better than feeling that tingling sensation on a first date without any physical contact. But what happens if the other person doesn’t feel the same way. It sucks!! In a perfect world both parties feel it and BINGO it’s like magic. But what makes two people crave each other? Some women like men who are oozing testosterone while others would rather be the dominatrix. I think if you took a poll most women would rather have the man initiate…like Mr. Big in Sex In The City…remember the elevator scene…it doesn’t get much hotter than that! Men get turned on by feminine women who smell good, and take care of themselves and are somewhat mysterious and don’t talk too much. There’s nothing worse than a woman who has diarrhea of the mouth. It’s a huge turnoff. You want to leave them wanting more. Women love men who smell good, make them laugh, have a job, open the car door, and aren’t cheap. Men deep down want a woman who has self respect, and someone they can take home to meet their mother. If Mom’s happy everyone’s happy!

Stop the Jiggle In Your Wiggle I've been back from Europe for over two weeks and I finally took my J Lo butt to the gym today. Between the pasta, gelato and red wine i consumed in Italy, I gained a whopping 7 pounds! I came to this realization when i kept unbuttoning my jeans which were suffocating me beyond belief!! Today I did 2 miles on the treadmill, 25 min on the elliptical and 25 min of steps not to mention the 250 situps . I ate a sashimi salad for dinner and drank 5 bottles of water and feel like a million bucks!! I realized that it's not just about looking good but what's most important is to feel good. Of course looking good is important too especially when you're as vain as I am...but this doesn't make me a bad person...hey I'm the only woman in Calabasas who hasn't had a shot of botox. I'd rather own a Picasso. painting than look like one! Then again Picasso is one of the most brilliant artists of our time. I need to seriously think about this.

AGE IS JUST A NUMBER I now know the secret to older men who look younger, more boyish and can still do it! Saw Neil Diamond last night at the Greek Theater and at 71 yrs young is still as sexier than ever...must be his new 42 yr old wife who keeps him young. My advice to all of the ladies out there...age is just a number...think young, act young, live young, play young and your man will feel young. Who said we have to act our age? We all want to feel young again no matter what age we are! Afterall 50 is the new 35 right ladies? So don't feel sorry for yourselves by raiding the refrigerator, and sitting on your asses doing nothing. Get to the gym, buy a sexy new dress, add highlights to give yourself a softer, younger look, show alittle cleavage, wear a pump to enhance your legs, and lighten up on the nagging. Good things will happen and you'll feel better about yourself...I guarantee it!!

Brrrr!

This weather change is like a breath of fresh air. I'll tell you what cold is...which brings me back to my days in New York. Getting ready for work in the morning wearing a warm wool sweater, wool ribbed tights, boots, fur lined gloves, a fashionable hat which made a statement and the full length mink coat my beautiful Mother passed down to me. Waiting for a taxi cab on 57th and 5th with the wind ...hitting me in the face, my nose running uncontrollably, my toes starting to feel numb and not being able to hail a cab because I can't feel my fingers so I give up and hop on the next bus that comes along and save ten bucks. The good news is right there as I get off the bus is my favorite pretzel stand. Grab a pretzel with a dab of mustard and eat it on the way back to my apartment. I walk in the door, turn up the heat and take a nice warm bubble bath. I heat up the Chinese food from the day before, turn on the TV to see whats happening in the world and anxiously await a new episode of Knots Landing. Go to bed with Johnny Carson and seven hours later wake up to a snow storm..can't get to work. I spend the day at home catching up on my favorite soaps, drink hot chocolate and whipped cream ( I know I'll work it off at the gym) and snuggle on the couch with my cats Mushi and Tushy. I'm getting antsy so I walk to the newstand when I suddenly get splashed with cold wet slush by a car turning the corner. I rush back to my warm cozy apartment, throw off my clothes, put on my flannels, crawl into bed hoping that I'll open my eyes to a beautiful sunny sky.
So now here i am twenty years later living in the most beautiful state In the USA and in the last 24 hours we've experience a cold spell and it's not so bad. In fact it's refreshing and rejuvenating! My advice to all of you native Californians who are hemming and hawing about the cold is lighten up, enjoy it while you can, nturn up the heat, throw on a scarf and some leggings, take your dog out for a fun, drink hot chocolate with your kids, feel the cold against your face and breathe. It's great for the soul!

Valentine's Day Advice

I'm Alone On Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is here and you're freaking out because you have no one to spend it with? It's not the end of the world if you don't have a date for Valentine's Day do something nice for yourself. Go to the market and buy yourself chocolate covered strawberries or treat yourself to a massage. This is your day to be good to yourself. Strike up a conversation with the person who strikes your fancy at your favorite coffee shop. Tell them that you like their smile. There's nothing like making someone feel good about themself. You might spend the following weekend with this person.

What's An Exciting Thing to Do On Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day is very overrated. Restaurants charge triple, and the pressure to please your partner could either kill you or make you broke. Not everyone can afford to by the Tiffany bracelet. Be spontaneous, and unpredictable by doing something your partner least expects. If you have kids have them build a fort in your family room (You know it was made with love) order a pizza, open a bottle of wine and watch a romantic movie with your honey. Yes, alot of women love flowers and candy but we're all running to the gym to stay in shape...are we really going to eat the candy?
Roses are nice but very predictable. Be creative and mysterious which can be very sexy. If you keep the spice in the relationship you'll never be bored.
Happy Valentine's Day!

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY COME AND GONE By Lisa Conrad Cohen

It’s been exactly thirteen days and nine hours since I turned another year older and as I sit and reflect on the events of my life I have to say it’s been quite a journey. I have only a few regrets, some of which are not sleeping with a handful of men who might have been really great in bed! Another regret is not traveling to Europe when I had the chance to go in my twenties. I went to Rome and Florence in my forties pregnant with my second child and walked up the Spanish Steps every night. I missed out on the wonderful Italian wines but made up for it by eating three gelatos a day. And the only other regret I have is not grabbing opportunities as they were presented to me. The things I could have achieved were endless. Grab those opportunities as they come to you. So now here I am doing things I never expected to be doing. I have a wonderful man, two amazing daughters, six handsome and very smart stepsons, a lovely home, two adorable dogs, an amazing group of friends, I can still fit into my size 6 jeans, no hot flashes yet, enjoy sex more than ever, appeared on a TV show, wrote articles that have been published, have a growing business, have done numerous radio shows, haven’t done botox…yet, having a ball every Friday at AFL with the most talented actors, writing my book... OY VEY…I’m exhausted and it’s GREAT!!! I love my life and I wouldn’t change a thing. So on that note believe in yourself, keep a positive attitude, love yourself, follow your dreams, if you try and fail, at least you know you tried. It will make you stronger and wiser. Wisdom goes a long way. Here’s to Life!!

New Years Blues No More

Now that it's getting closer to New Years Eve, don't freak out if you have nothing to do. New Years can be very overrated. Spending New Year's Eve with someone you care about is the best way to go. It could be with a good friend, your kids, even your mother. There's no rule you have to be with a boyfriend, or at a party with wall to wall people who you couldn't care less about. There are several ways to enjoy New Years. Here's a few of my favorites:

* Have a small dinner party at your home with close friends, play games and watch the ball drop at midnight.

* Watch one of my favorites "When Harry Met Sally" with your honey, throw some lobsters in the pot and drink champagne.

* Light a fire, and have sex all night until the ball drops...the one in Times Square!!

* Take a trip to Paris (wouldn't it be nice)

* Go to the Party store and pick up noisemakers, and confetti, and enjoy bringing in the New Year with your kids. You might want to watch the early feed of the ball dropping with them so they don't have to stay up too late.

* Take a trip to New York and stay at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, but make sure you get a room facing the ball...invite a few friends over, order room service and watch the ball drop right in front of you! Pretty cool

* And my favorite is, call everyone you love and wish them a Happy New Year...and then go to bed. That's the easiest, with the least amount of stress.

What ever you decide to do Have a Happy and Healthy 2012!

Much love,
Lisa Conrad Cohen

IT'S TIME TO FESS UP

The Muppets is not just for anyone with kids… it’s for everyone. It’s about life, hope love and teaches us how to express our true feelings, and how important it is to say what we feel before it’s too late. Once that chance comes it may never come again.
.
In the film THE MUPPETS, Mary feels pushed aside because of her boyfriend Gary’s relationship with Walter, Gary’s brother. All Mary wants is to feel like number one to Gary.

Men need to realize that women need to feel wanted, needed, appreciated and feel like #1! Without it women feel an emptiness, and an incompleteness. So a message to all guys out there… get with the program and be the knight in shining armor, and tell the woman in your life that you love her, and show it for god sakes. Remember action speaks louder than words! Not expressing your inner feelings can sabotage the relationship. It's time to fess up!
If Ashton told Demi his thoughts, before he ended up in the Jacuzzi with a twenty something year old he might have saved their marriage. He was too much of a coward to say “I’m feeling like I want to have an affair because something is missing in our marriage”. Maybe they could’ve worked it out before it was too late. Ashton could have saved Demi a lot of humiliation and embarrassment.

If Arnold had a mother fetish and told Maria “Hey I want to screw the maid because she reminds me of my mother”, at least it would have given Maria an out of the marriage and could have avoided much humiliation to the family and mostly to Maria.

Isn’t it time for men to be men and show some integrity and decency to the women in their lives.
To those men who are loyal, honest husbands and boyfriends keep it that way because believe me the grass isn’t greener.
Just ask Kermit!
